Negative Emotions Cause Death and Illness
Paula Swope
Awhile back, I decided to conduct my own research study. I distributed a simple survey via social media and through my email distribution list to collect (at least) 1,000 responses to find a correlation between a person’s thoughts and their life experiences. The survey had 5 simple questions:

Would you say most of your thoughts are positive or negative? (open ended)
Do you focus on living or dying? (open ended)
Would you describe yourself as lucky or unlucky? (open ended)
Are most of your life experiences pleasant or unpleasant? (open ended)
Do you believe your thoughts are connected to your life experiences? (Yes or No)

I go into more detail about my findings in my book, but for now I am focusing on the most significant finding. My results reiterated what I thought about negative emotions, illness, and untimely deaths. I believe causation exist between negativity, illness, and dying. I wholeheartedly believe negativity causes illness and death.

Here is what I discovered. Those who said their thoughts were mostly negative also said they focused more on dying than living. That group of respondents claimed to have numerous health issues like chronic diseases. This group described themselves as unlucky and many stated they had financial issues. Several respondents said they knew they would die of a fatal disease. The same respondents answered that most of their life experiences were unpleasant.

On the other side of the fence, the positive people answered the questions quite differently. Those who said their thoughts were mostly positive did not report any health issues or thoughts of dying. They also said their life experiences were mostly pleasant and not one respondent from the positive group mentioned any financial issues.

Strap on your seatbelt for this one. Most of the respondents chose to remain anonymous, so I do not know who many of them are. However, some of them came forward and reached out to me after they took the survey to discuss their thoughts about the questions. One of those people is someone I had known for over 20 years. I cannot reveal this person’s identity, but I can tell you this person was in the negative respondent group.

What I learned from this respondent was that they fantasized about dying because they thought life had handed them an unfair raw deal. They openly discussed being broke and sick and how tired they were of being broke and sick. The respondent made comments like, “I’d rather be dead.” “I’ll never be able to afford my medicine anyway.” “No one loves me.”

Since this is someone I knew, I was aware of their struggles, and their health issues. This person had many health issues and was quite young. Notice I referred to this person in the past tense, because they are no longer with us. They ended up dying an untimely, horrific death surrounded by toxic people. This person’s thoughts literally put them in the grave.
