Emotional Healing Outside Therapy
Emotional Healing outside Therapy

You don’t need anything external to have a psychedelic experience.

I know that may sound bold, but I’m saying it from lived experience—not theory, not trend, not hype. Full disclosure: I have no point of reference when it comes to psychedelics. I’ve never experimented with them. What I have experimented with is breathwork—and it has taken me into trance-like states that changed my emotional life in ways I never expected.

When I enter those states, I feel deeply connected to what I call God—others might call it higher self, source, or consciousness. The label doesn’t matter. The experience does.

Why Breathwork Surpassed Meditation for Me

I’ve meditated daily for years. Meditation is powerful. I will never dismiss it.

But breathwork? Breathwork is next-level powerful.

As the years passed—and as I stumbled, failed, rebuilt, and evolved in my work as a self-help coach, author, and podcast host—I realized something important: meditation calms the mind, but breathwork changes the state of consciousness.

If I need to relax, regulate my nervous system, or settle my body, I use nostril breathing.

If I need to release emotional residue, access insight, or receive information from my highest self, I use mouth-breathing.

The difference is profound.

When we consciously control our breath—when we breathe with intention—we shut down the mental madness. Carbon dioxide levels drop. The prefrontal cortex slows. The endless loops of overthinking, self-judgment, and rumination lose their grip.

And when that mental noise subsides, something else steps in.

When the Mind Gets Quiet, the Truth Speaks

When my mind quiets through breathwork, my higher self doesn’t whisper—it shows up and shows off.

Breathwork has taken me into emotional territory I couldn’t access through talking alone. I’ve cut karmic cords with people who haunted my mind through painful memories. I’ve forgiven what once felt unforgivable. I’ve entered states where I felt guided to transmute healing energy toward others.

Did I “heal” anyone? I honestly don’t know.

But in those moments—connected, surrendered, and deeply present—I felt love and gratitude at a level that surpassed anything I’d known before. And that love didn’t stay in the session. It came with me. It altered how I showed up in my real, physical life.

That matters.

Why I Didn’t Teach Breathwork—for a Long Time

Here’s the part that surprises people: I was trained and certified in breathwork years ago, but I didn’t teach it.

Why?

Because I didn’t think it was as important or as effective as meditation.

I was wrong.

I underestimated breathwork because it doesn’t always look “quiet” or polished. It’s visceral. It’s physical. It can be intense. And intensity often makes people uncomfortable.

But transformation isn’t always comfortable.

Jimmy Fallon once joked that if he could invest in anything right now, it would be breath. I couldn’t agree more. If breath could somehow be monetized into stocks, that’s where I’d put my money.

It’s the only thing that’s foolproof.

The One Thing We Can Always Control

I grew up hearing people say, “God gave us everything we need to solve any problem or accomplish anything we want.”

For a long time, that statement frustrated me—especially during hard seasons of life. It felt dismissive. Vague. Almost cruel.

Now I understand it.

Your breath is the only internal system you can consciously control. Heart rate, digestion, hormones—those operate on their own. Breath does not.

God doesn’t make mistakes. There’s a reason for that.

We’re meant to work with our breath. We’re meant to use it as a bridge between the body and the soul, between the conscious and the subconscious, between survival and truth.

Your breath will show you who you are.
Your breath will show you what you really want.
But only if you’re willing to surrender to it.

And I can show you how. Find out more here.
